Lindfield Junior Cricket U12 Division 1 Team Selection Policy – Season 2026/27 

The NSJCA U12 Sat afternoon competition consists of two divisions. This is the only age group within the NSJCA competition that is divided into divisions, reflecting the large number of teams competing in this age group.

For the 2026/27 season, Lindfield Cricket (LDCC) aims to enter two teams in the U12 Division 1 competition.

LDCC U12 Division 1 teams will be selected by the club on merit and in accordance with the selection process outlined below. Division 1 teams are not formed as friendship teams. Instead, the club will allocate players with the aim of creating two balanced and competitive teams.

All other U12 Sat afternoon teams will compete in Division 2. These teams are generally formed based on friendship requests and player preferences, wherever possible.

The club aims to provide a clear and transparent process for the selection of U12 Division 1 teams. Selection will be undertaken in the following order of priority.

1. U12 Representative Players

Players selected in a NSJCA U12 Representative team for the 2026/27 season who wish to play in the U12 Sat PM competition will be expected to play in an U12 Division 1 team.

2. U11 Representative Players

Players selected in a NSJCA U11 Representative team for the 2026/27 season who wish to play in the U12 Sat PM competition will be offered a place in an U12 Division 1 team. Subject to team numbers and available positions. These players may instead choose to play in an U11 Stage2 team, or an U12 Division 2 team.

3. U12 Representative Trialists

U12 players who made Trial 2 as part of the NSJCA representative cricket selection process earlier in 2026 but did not get selected, will have the next opportunity to be offered a place in an U12 Division 1 team. Subject to team numbers and available positions.

4. Expressions of Interest

If positions remain available, the club will invite Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from other players.

Selection Process (if oversubscribed)

Placement in an U12 Division 1 team is not guaranteed and will depend on player numbers and available positions.
If the number of eligible players exceeds the available places, the club may conduct a selection trial. Final selections may be based on a combination of:

• performance at the selection trial;

• representative trial performance (where applicable);

• player experience, performance and statistics from previous seasons; and

• any other relevant information considered by the selection panel.

The committee reserves the right to determine the final composition of all U12 Division 1 teams, having regard to player development, team balance and the best interests of the club.
