Girls Cricket Pathways
Lindfield Cricket is committed to developing girl-specific programs, delivering specialist female coaching, and creating clearly defined pathways for Lindfield girls. This aligns closely with Cricket Australia’s goals to sustainably grow female participation and accelerate opportunities for women and girls at all levels of the game. Over the past four years, Cricket Australia has seen tremendous growth, with over 5,000 all-girls teams now playing cricket across Australia.

In line with our commitment, Lindfield introduced a pink club cap in the 2021/22 season and expanded this in 2022/23 with girls-specific training tops, shorts, and playing kits.
Representative Cricket - U13 & 15s
For girls eager to play more competitive cricket, it’s important to know the junior representative pathways.
Lindfield District Cricket Club (LDCC) is part of the North Shore Junior Cricket Association (NSJCA), which fields representative teams across all eight member clubs in the following competitions:
Female NSW Metro Youth Championships
-
U13 Mollie Dive Shield - 30 Overs, Sundays, December - March
-
U15 Margaret Peden Shield - 50 Overs, Sundays, December – March
NSJCA Rep Trials for U13 & U15 Girls generally occur around October of each year. Trial dates are announced here, closer to the time: https://nsjca.asn.au/news/
Brewers Competition U17s
Following U15 representative cricket, the next step is the U17 Brewers Shield competition. With a minimum age of 14, the Brewers Shield offers girls a chance to play on turf in a high-quality competition similar in prestige to the boys’ U16 Green Shield. Lindfield girls have previously participated with success in this competition with Gordon Women's Cricket Club.
Trials are generally held around March/April for the season ahead (each club varies).
The Peden U15 Representative competition will run around the Christmas and New Year period, like the boys’ Green Shield, reducing scheduling conflicts with the Brewers Shield. This allows talented 14-year-old girls the opportunity to play in both competitions, or to fill in for the Brewers team during the holiday period.
Academy
In addition to club training and games, Gordon Women’s Cricket Club runs a girls’ development academy from mid-October to the end of November (6 weeks). This well-established program helps girls transition to playing on turf and prepares them for the Orange U15 carnival in January.
For more information about joining the U15 Academy and playing in the Brewers Shield, please contact Beny Chun, President of Gordon Women's Cricket.
Conclusion
We are excited about the future growth of Lindfield Girls Cricket. With the strong support of our club committee, clearly identified pathways, and a valuable partnership with Gordon Cricket Club as a feeder into their senior women’s program, we are confident we can provide excellent opportunities for girls to develop and thrive in cricket.
